What are your running goals for this year? Are you training for a marathon or just want to get back into running?
If you’re new to running, I strongly recommend the “walk, run, walk” technique to get you started.
With this technique, you can start off by walking for 1 minute, running for a minute and then walking, and carrying on for as long as you want.
Don’t over think it, just get out there and start a great hobby for 2025! (Maybe once it’s a bit warmer outside though 😅)

Our whole lives we’ve been told to “sit up straight” and “stop slouching” by our parents, teachers and our physios.
But if we sit up straight all day, the muscles in our back can over-work and become fatigued. This can lead to stiffness and pain.
The body loves to move, this is one of the reasons why we fidget.
Every now and then we can slouch to relax and lengthen the muscles in the back. Try slouching as shown here, try to slow down your breathing as well to really get that relaxation into the body.
And don’t forget to fidget and try other sitting positions throughout the day too.
And of course, get up and move around as much as possible!

Today was my first gym session for 3 weeks as I was away on holiday.
And to describe it in one word: Ouch! 😅
For anyone who exercises regularly, you know that first session back is so difficult. You feel weaker, less motivated, and you know you’re gonna feel sore in the morning.
My advice for those getting back to exercise after a long time off because of a holiday, or an injury, or if you’re just starting out at the gym:
Aim to do 3 exercises, then leave.
It doesn’t sound like much, but having an easily achievable goal can motivate you to get yourself to the gym, do your 3 exercises and feel accomplished for the day.
You might find that once you’ve done the 3 exercises, you have some energy to do a little more.
Then the next couple workouts will get easier.
Give it a go and see how you get on.

My Go-To Back Pain Relief Exercise 👇👇👇
If you have suffered from any kind of lower back pain, you know how debilitating it can feel. If you have just felt a little twinge, or if you have been suffering with chronic pain, give this a try:
Lie in this position for 5 minutes and make sure you roll off to the side when you are finished. You can use some ice on the back for 5 minutes afterwards if you are a little sore.
We have a natural curve in our lower backs which helps to distribute the weight of gravity evenly throughout the spine, but sometimes this curve gets compromised, for example when sitting for long periods. Bending and lifting incorrectly can also aggravate the lower back.
This towel exercise helps to take the pressure off the discs in the spine and promote the natural curve in the lower back.
