How to prepare for your upcoming appointment:

Find realistic info pics! Show us what you love and also what you don’t like. Think about your hair type while choosing photos, this helps keep your expectations a reality. Do you have a picture of you where you love your hair? Show us.

Arrive to your appointment with clean dry hair! This ensures the best possible outcome. Oil, dirt, and product can create a barrier that the color can’t properly pe*****te through. Arriving with your hair in its clean natural state also helps us really see your hair and plan your cut and color accordingly.

Be open to our suggestions- we know hair, color theory, and want you to look and feel your best.

When possible, wear a neutral top in a color that is flattering to your skin tone. This will make your new color look its best when finished. Bright colors can change what your color looks like in our mirrors. We advise from wearing hoods, turtlenecks, and anything too bulky as it can be our way while working to give you the best of the best. ​

Parking is located directly in front of the salon building. You can also find parking along Mass Ave located behind Moxie Beauty Co, along Central St heading North, and along Arlington St on the triangle. Parking isn’t permitted in the lot next door.

🤍Fill in the thin spots with makeup! Use a matte eyeshadow close to your hair color with a short stiff makeup brush and fill the areas in gently like you would your eyebrows. Use short little strokes to create a shadow. This is a great option if you like to wear your hair up. Lots of great tutorials on YouTube. If you go this route, PLEASE make sure you pair it with a clarifying shampoo or scalp scrub to thoroughly clean your scalp after, otherwise you could see more hair loss.

🤍Change your part, a lot of women see hair loss in the temple/front part area, pretty much front and center. If this happens you can try sporting a middle part to camouflage these areas, or a hard side part to cover the middle. You can also try rocking a fat cloth headband or bandana!

🤍New Products, Try using a volume shampoo, this can bulk up your hair strands and make it look thicker. Use less conditioner keeping it away from your scalp. Use a texture spray or dry shampoo (dark hair ladies should try a tinted formula) can lift hair up off the scalp creating more volume and can be reactivated part way through the day with a simple head flip and shake out! Bosley makes a product called Thickening Fibers, almost like a dry shampoo, tinted fibers will bond to hair helping it look thicker. Shibui makes a thickening spray with pea protein that actually helps thicken your hair. Gently add volume using Velcro rollers or a curling iron with a low temp.

🤍Be Gentle, Avoid rubbing wet hair with a towel and making sure while your hair is wet you aren’t ripping and snapping it as you detangle. Use a wet brush. Take a break from overuse of hot tools, I know I recommended using an iron above, so turn down your heat and be gentle with it. Think about your hair as a fabric, and what temp you would set your clothes iron- Do you have fine silky hair? What would happen if you cranked up the iron on high and went to iron your silk blouse? You’d have a hole in your shirt.

Have you ever seen a shampoo brush?

We love these for loosening up dry dead skin cells on your scalp. Most people don’t have true dandruff (a fungus), you just have dry scalp and need a good scrub.

These brushes stimulate blood flow to the head which is so good for hair growth and can remove product build up (ahem.. All that dry shampoo).

Pair using a scalp brush with our new favorite clarifying shampoo by .hair once every couple weeks and you’ll be sure to have less flakes.

Are you bold enough to rock this color?

Do you add more water to your hair after you start to shampoo?

Adding water helps emulsify the shampoo and spread it through your hair.

Want to know one big difference between salon quality shampoo and a cheaper alternative? Added water! Yup, our shampoos are more concentrated and need to have a bit more H2O added.

Try this: Add a nickel size amount of shampoo to your hands, with your finger tips work it on all sides of your head. Sides, top, nape, and don’t forget the back of your head.

Lean back in the shower water for a second, scrub some more. It should take you a couple minutes to thoroughly wash your hair. If you feel like you need a bit more shampoo, add a little more now.

If it’s been more than a day since you’ve washed…. Rinse and repeat!

You’re going to look your best if you lean into your color season with your hair color.

My girl here is an autumn so we add dark ribbons of a soft copper brown and medium blonde gold highlights.

When your hair matches your season your r eyes look brighter and your skin tone glows!

(For the most part we’re pretty good at being able to tell. We can almost always know if you are meant to be warm or cool. We’re not pros so some people are harder to tell than others.)

She’s an enormous Fiddle Leaf Fig, and she’s the only plant in here that has a name, Fiona.

My only explanation on how she is so big is that she loves her sunny window and all day long everyone tells her she’s beautiful.
