Our 2nd Annual Back to School Braiding has been a success 👏🏽🫶🏽

It means the world that we are able to provide these services to our community and to see your kids going into the new school year confident and happy!!
Thank you so much to everyone who referred families, shared our mission and donated items for our kids to be braided up!

As a curly person myself with 3c/4a hair my hair was a big determining factor of my confidence in school. I didn’t know how to actually style my hair and it wasn’t until years (and multiple products, bleaching and dyes) later did I start to learn and embrace my curls and find what makes me feel confident.

While we can’t continuously provide free or discounted services we are not complacent to the fact there is a huge need for these services for the BIPOC and mixed families in the Spokane community.

We should know what products work for our curly and coily hair types, how to do protective styles and get our hair event or school ready, just like anyone else. Talking with many families has brought to our attention they have no idea what to do and will either let their hair be or use products not meant for their hair.

Rather than be individual as braiders and textured stylists for the BIPOC community we are meant to provide that space and come together. Our goal for next year is to work with a group of braiders to provide these services, still make sure they are paid, and ensure everyone is provided equitable access.

⁉️WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR ⁉️

This is one of my favorite questions I receive and I could talk about braiding hair all day if you let me!

No matter the hair brand you choose, consider doing a dip with an ACV rinse and hot water to remove any harsh chemicals or other things used during the process to make the hair.
While we want to ensure everything going on our scalp and in our hair is as clean as possible, our community is starting to work on ways to make this happen!

***This is general information for anyone who isn’t sure what to look for when getting their hair braided for the first time, trying a new style, etc. There are so many hair brands and colors and this list doesn’t even cover it! This post is not affiliated or sponsored in any way and my opinion on what is readily available in my area!***

Back to School 2024 is upon us and it’s time to get Spokane braided up and ready for a successful and fun school year!

We are doing something a bit different this year and offering a discounted service! $10 per style booked will be donated to our kids needing braiding services but their families budget is a little (a lot😅) tighter this year.

We’re looking to braid up as many kids as possible this year! If you are a member of the Spokane community and would like to donate, you would be helping out these kids and their confidence going into the new school year❤️ Even if you can’t donate please share this post!!! If you would like more information or to donate please reach out!

✏️Individuals and businesses who choose to donate will receive shoutouts on Facebook and Instagram. There will also be a special post including what we were able to provide to our community together!

These took 7 hours while we wrangled 2 toddlers 😂 On the top rows we added in some red and black tinsel to the last bundle and we are loving the results!!😍
